Federal Government Continues To Prioritise Sabah’s Development And People’s Welfare

PETALING JAYA: The federal government will continue prioritising the needs of the people in Sabah by ensuring that every development policy and government assistance initiative genuinely reaches and benefits communities across the state.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the commitment would be strengthened through continuous efforts to enhance economic development, improve living standards and expand wellbeing opportunities, particularly in rural areas.

He said this after receiving a courtesy visit from Deputy Human Resources Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan and Sabah Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Jamawi Jaafar.

According to Anwar, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss several matters related to Sabah’s development, including public welfare and initiatives aimed at strengthening the local economy.

“The discussions also touched on efforts to improve the people’s standard of living, especially in rural areas, as well as measures to strengthen economic opportunities and public wellbeing,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said the Madani Government wants to ensure that every initiative introduced is not merely announced at the policy level but effectively implemented so that the benefits can be directly experienced by the people.

According to him, Sabah remains one of the government’s key priorities in ensuring more balanced and inclusive national development.

Anwar said various aspects would continue to receive attention, including infrastructure development, employment opportunities, strengthening local economic sectors and improving access to basic facilities.

He stressed that the government’s approach is not solely focused on physical development but also takes into account social wellbeing and improvements in the people’s quality of life.

He added that efforts to strengthen the rural economy would continue through cooperation between ministries and the Sabah state government to ensure development initiatives are implemented more comprehensively.

According to him, the government also aims to ensure that all assistance provided can be utilised effectively without leaving behind those genuinely in need.

Anwar said a people-centred approach would remain the government’s priority in ensuring that national development is enjoyed fairly by all segments of society, including communities in Sabah.

He added that the Madani Government remains committed to strengthening cooperation with the state government and local leaders to ensure issues affecting the people can be addressed more effectively and comprehensively.
