Bukit Bintang Traffic Disruptions Scheduled Ahead of Labour Day Festival and Rain Rave Event

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow in Bukit Bintang will be significantly affected over the coming weeks as authorities implement staged road closures in preparation for the World Labour Day Celebration and Rain Rave Water Music Festival 2026.

The event, set to take place from April 30 to May 2, is expected to draw large crowds into the city’s Golden Triangle, prompting early traffic management measures to ensure smooth operations and public safety.

Night Closures to Support Event Setup

Preparatory work will begin ahead of the festival, with partial closures along Jalan Bukit Bintang scheduled between April 22 and April 28.

During this period, selected lanes will be closed at night, operating from 11pm to 5am on weekdays and from midnight to 7am on weekends. These closures are intended to facilitate logistical arrangements and infrastructure setup while minimising daytime disruption.

Full Closure During Peak Event Days

A complete shutdown of Jalan Bukit Bintang will be enforced from April 29 through May 2, covering the entire duration of the event.

Motorists will be redirected to nearby alternative routes, including Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Imbi, as authorities prioritise crowd safety and traffic control in the area.

Public Transport to Ease Congestion

Officials are advising the public to rely on rail transport options during the festival period, as congestion is expected in the surrounding areas.

MRT, LRT and Monorail services will operate at increased capacity to accommodate higher passenger volumes.

Visitors are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional travel time to avoid inconvenience.

With thousands expected to attend, the event is set to be a major highlight in Kuala Lumpur’s calendar, supporting broader tourism initiatives under Visit Malaysia 2026.
