RCB Makes Malaysia Book of Records as First Malaysian MotoGP Handle Grip Supplier

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian automotive brand RCB has etched its name into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) after becoming the first local company to supply motorcycle handle grips used in the MotoGP World Championship.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for RCB, a brand under the MKA Group, and highlights Malaysia’s growing presence in the global motorsports industry.

RCB managing director Marcus Leong said the recognition reflects years of dedication and continuous innovation aimed at producing world-class motorcycle components capable of meeting MotoGP’s demanding standards.

According to him, the MBOR recognition is more than just an award—it is proof that Malaysian-made products can compete alongside established international brands on the world stage.

“Being involved in MotoGP is already a proud achievement for us.

“But having this accomplishment recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records makes it even more meaningful because it validates all the hard work and sacrifices made by our team,” he said after receiving the MBOR certificate here today.

Leong said the success did not come overnight, as the company had to go through an extensive product development process and satisfy the strict technical requirements set by racing teams.

The company’s motorcycle handle grip, branded as Nagamaki, was designed to provide superior grip while reducing rider fatigue and vibrations during races.

“When we started working with MotoGP teams, they wanted something exceptional that could perform under extreme conditions.

“We drew inspiration from the samurai sword because it symbolises balance, precision and control.

“That was how the name Nagamaki came about,” he explained.

According to Leong, the product underwent extensive research and testing to ensure it met the expectations of professional riders competing at the highest level of motorcycle racing.

He said factors such as ergonomics, material quality and rider comfort were among the most important aspects considered during development.

Leong also revealed that obtaining MBOR recognition was a rigorous process.

The company had to submit extensive documentation, including product designs, technical specifications and evidence of its official involvement in MotoGP.

“MBOR conducted a very thorough verification process.

“We had to prove that RCB was indeed the first Malaysian company in this category, and the entire verification process took more than six months,” he said.

He added that the strict evaluation made the recognition even more meaningful because it was awarded based on verified facts and documented achievements.

Today, RCB products are used by several teams across Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP, depending on team preferences and circuit requirements throughout the racing season.

Leong said the company remains committed to developing high-performance products and hopes to see more Malaysian innovations making their mark on the global motorsports scene in the years ahead.
