
Two Sisters Killed, Teen Injured in Klang Hit-and-Run Crash
KUALA LUMPUR: A family outing to dinner ended in tragedy after two sisters were killed while a 17-year-old boy was injured in a hit-and-run incident along Jalan Pekan Baru in Bandar Baru Klang, Selangor last night.
According to North Klang police chief S. Vijaya Rao, the victims were sisters aged 57 and 62, while the injured teenager is believed to be the son of one of the deceased women.
Initial investigations found that the victims were walking along the roadside from their nearby home to a restaurant for dinner when a silver SUV travelling from Jalan Meru towards Bandar Baru Klang suddenly crashed into them at around 7.40pm.
The vehicle reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
S. Vijaya Rao said both women suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The teenage victim sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.
Police have yet to record the teenager’s statement as investigations continue.
Authorities are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death through reckless or dangerous driving.
Those convicted under the offence may face imprisonment ranging from two to 10 years, in addition to fines between RM5,000 and RM20,000.
The law also provides for suspension of driving licences for at least three years, while repeat offenders may face disqualification of up to 10 years.
