Western media spread a lot of false information, slandering humanitarian issues in Palestine – Ramanan
KUALA LUMPUR: The public needs to be careful when receiving and filtering any information related to the humanitarian crisis happening in Palestine.
Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk R. Ramanan said a lot of false and slanderous information has been spread by the western media regarding the oppression by the Israeli regime on the Palestinian people.
“Many (western media) report that the Palestinians are terrorists, but we have to ask: are the children who were killed terrorists? Are the nurses terrorists? Are the doctors and the United Nations peacekeepers terrorists?
“No, this murder is the tyranny and cruelty of the Zionist regime, so we gather here for the freedom of Palestine, let us hope for peace, stop the genocide in Palestine,” he said in a speech in conjunction with the Palestine Liberation Rally at the Axiata Arena here last night .
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
The gathering was also attended by thousands of participants dressed in white as a sign of their solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are currently suffering due to the inhumane oppression carried out by the Israeli regime.
In his speech, Ramanan also said that the principle of the struggle of the Indian figure, Mahatma Gandhi, who is not based on violence but rather on harmony, can be used as an example in finding the best solution to the ongoing conflict.
