Trailer crash: The Sultan of Pahang wants a new house for the victim’s family
PEKAN: Concerned with the fate of the victim whose house was destroyed by a trailer in an accident at Kilometer 5 of Jalan Pekan-Rompin near Kampung Ketapang Hilir on Saturday, the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will grant a new house to the family victims.
Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz Nasruddin, 35, said the matter was ordered by Al-Sultan Abdullah himself when he agreed to go to visit the victim’s family at his home at about 1.30 in the afternoon and spent almost half an hour saying hello and expressing sympathy for the incident.
He said the Sultan of Pahang also expressed his condolences and described the accident that happened at about 4.15 in the morning as something very terrible, resulting in the death of his two younger siblings.
“When the sultan visited the site of our house that was demolished by the truck, the Lord told me, God willing, he would replace the house and build a new house in the same area on the heritage land. The Sultan did not tell me when; it is possible that some people from the Palace will come later
“Your majesty also advised us to take legal action to sue the lorry company involved to demand justice for our family,” he told the media after Al-Sultan Abdullah agreed to visit the family, who was also accompanied by the Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, Innovation and Nature Exco. Around Pahang Datuk Mohd Nizar Najib.
In the incident, a trailer carrying a load of lime ceiling from Johor Bahru, Johor, towards Kuantan is believed to have lost control at a left turn and crashed into the opposite lane before crashing into a house on the right side of the road.
The tragedy caused Nurnazatul Fasiha, 32, to die at the scene, while his younger brother, Mohd Waldon Faris, 21, died while receiving treatment at Pekan Hospital.
The victim’s parents, Norrulaini Mohd Hassan, 54, and Nasruddin Othman, 60, as well as Mohd Waldon Faris’s friend, Muhammad Gabriel Miqhael Muhammad Faidzal, 19, who were also in the house, suffered injuries and were treated at Pekan Hospital.
Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz, who is the eldest brother of the victim, hopes that the authorities can install higher road dividers in the area to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
“It has never happened again, and this is the first time that the truck involved skidded from the opposite lane. Immediate action must be taken,” he said.
The victim’s mother, Norrulaini, who is still traumatized by the incident, said that her husband, Nasruddin, had a broken rib and has not yet accepted the fact that her two children were killed in the incident.
“God only knows; the feeling of losing two children is unimaginable. “However, I am grateful to be safe and unharmed,” he stated.
