The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of electronic waste (e-waste) recycling and provide a platform for the community and companies to dispose of their electronic waste responsibly.
This event featured informative sessions on the environmental impact of e-waste, recycling processes, and discussions on the importance of ESG practices.
The event was officiated by Senior Principal Assistant Director, DOE Selangor, Fenny Wong Nyuk Yin.
An Award Certification Ceremony from ESG Malaysia was given during this event to acknowledge the contribution of top players towards the environment from various sectors such as banking, manufacturing, government bodies, education, healthcare, and telecommunication.

TNT Communications Sdn Bhd Co-Founder Eugene Woo said, “We formalise a strategy and partnership in order to make more action plan e-waste contribution.
“Beside how to handle the e-waste, we want more better implementation. TNT Communication will assist the frontline, especially all the companies, to understand the actual action they need to perform in order for us to collect the e-waste and convert it into e-waste points.”
Director of TM Enviro Industries Sdn Bhd, Thevaan Padma, said, “Our part will be to recover the tech-based e-waste from companies. Usually, we will do the collection and recovery part.
“All this while we have been doing in the traditional way; however, since we have ESG procedures coming into play, we educate plus inform our clients to follow based on these guidelines.
President of ESG Malaysia, Steven Lee, said, “We entered into this strategic partnership mainly because companies have been disposing of their e-waste but they do not get recognition.
“We want to give this recognition and more companies are encouraged to responsibly dispose of their e-waste.
“By giving it to a licensed disposer, they will ensure that the harm of e-waste would be eliminated. “
E-waste (electronic waste) is discarded electrical or electronic devices and equipment no longer useful or needed after a process or activity.
During his presentation, Eugene Woo of ESG Malaysia touched on the transition to a low-carbon economy, which presents opportunities for businesses to develop and adopt clean technologies, renewable energy sources, energy-efficient processes, and sustainable products.
Companies that embrace as well as invest in these innovations can gain a competitive advantage and access new markets, he added.
Meanwhile, Thevaan from TM Enviro Industries Sdn Bhd highlighted how recycling 1 million mobile phones could give nearly 16 tonnes of copper, 350 kg of silver, 34 kg of gold, and 15 kg of palladium.
In the final forum, Eugene Woo of TNT Communications highlighted their approach as a commitment to sustainable value creation, fostering long-term business relationships, and promoting ESG alignments.
He also shared the E-Waste Action Code, which outlines 6 rules among them: assess, reduce, recycle, educate, innovate, and report.
