TNB recognised fo outstanding commitment to National Security and Energy transition APBSP awards
KUALA LUMPUR — Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s (TNB) National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) has once again reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to national security and energy transition by clinching prestigious accolades at the Anugerah Penarafan Bintang Sasaran Penting (APBSP) 2023, organised by the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer (CGSO), under the Prime Minister Department (JPM).
At the heart of TNB’s recognition was the crowning of its NLDC with the top award, a coveted 5-star accolade. This commendation underscored TNB’s adeptness in ensuring the seamless operation of electricity supply while impeccably safeguarding critical national assets.
The Sultan Azlan Shah Power Station in Bersia, Perak, was also honoured with a 5-Star award, alongside two 4-Star awards bestowed upon TNB’s main intake substations in Bukit Tambun, Pulau Pinang, and Chuping, Perlis. A total of 28 corporations received accolades across five award categories during the APBSP 2023, recognising organisations for their exemplary security and protective management of national critical installations.
Presented by the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail at the Leo Moggie Convention Centre, TNB Platinum in Bangsar, the awards evaluated participants based on five crucial areas: management commitment, physical security, document security, personnel security, and ICT security.
President and Chief Executive Officer of TNB, Dato’ Seri Ir. Baharin Din, expressed pride in these accolades, emphasising TNB’s relentless commitment to safeguarding assets critical to the nation and its resolute drive toward a responsible Energy Transition.
“Aligned with TNB’s objective to support sustainability and achieve Net Zero by 2050, our emphasis on digitalisation and automation significantly enhances the quality of our security services. We continually monitor the security of our major assets nationwide, prioritising prevention capabilities, incident management, and addressing evolving security risks.”
He further highlighted TNB’s Security Services Department, TNB Global Business Solutions as instrumental in managing the security of assets worth RM205,922.3 million nationwide, emphasising the crucial role of safeguarding national assets amid evolving threats and challenges in policy.
“Collaboration with national security agencies remains integral to our commitment,” Baharin continued. “We are steadfast in providing vital support necessary for our nation’s secure development amid dynamic changes and evolving workflows.”
Explaining the important role of NLDC, he underscored its significance as the nerve centre overseeing agencies remains integral to our commitment. “Ensuring constant monitoring, scheduling, and dispatching of power from various generating stations are paramount responsibilities of the NLDC. Maintaining an exceptional level of safety and protection management at the NLDC is imperative to achieve our objectives.”

About NLDC:
The National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) is being operated by the Grid System Operator (GSO). GSO is a ring-fenced entity within TNB, responsible for the real-time operation and control of the Peninsular Malaysia Grid System and it ensures that the grid system is reliable, secured and operated most economically. In managing the grid system, GSO manages the transmission network, real-time re-scheduling and dispatch of all generators in the system and operation of interconnections, coordination of all parties connected to the Grid System, short and medium-term planning of the transmission network and generation facilities. Regarding its day-to-day operation, GSO shall comply with the Electricity Supply Act 1990 (ESA), Grid Code for Peninsular Malaysia (Amendments) 2020 (GCPM) and be guided by the Transmission System Reliability Standard (TSRS).
