Attended by esteemed guests including Prime Minister Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of Communications of Malaysia Y.B. Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, and TNB’s leadership, the event underscored TNB’s legacy in powering Malaysia and its resolute commitment to a sustainable future. The event celebrated TNB’s initiatives that align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, a key foundation for the company’s strategic direction as it embarks on the next phase of growth.

In his opening remarks, TNB Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Razak Abdul Majid reflected on the organization’s transformative journey, stating,

“TNB’s journey over these 75 years has not only been one of economic significance but one rooted in a sense of national duty and a responsibility to uphold the welfare of our communities.”

Emphasizing TNB’s commitment to sustainable growth, he continued,

“Our role goes beyond providing energy; it’s about building a legacy of stewardship for the environment, society, and governance that will inspire future generations.”

Building a Legacy of Service and Responsibility
Since its establishment, TNB has been a pillar of Malaysia’s infrastructure and development, providing accessible and reliable electricity to millions across the nation. Reflecting on this legacy, Tan Sri Abdul Razak expressed gratitude for the hard work of TNB’s 34,000 employees, saying,

“Each of our employees, whether past or present, has played an integral role in shaping TNB’s success. Their dedication and service have brought us to where we stand today, and together we proudly wear the blue jacket, symbolizing our shared commitment to serve every corner of Malaysia.”

Beyond Malaysia’s borders, TNB’s growth has extended to international markets, including Australia, India, Kuwait, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom.

“Our overseas ventures are a testament to Malaysia’s capacity for innovation and excellence in the energy sector,” said Tan Sri Abdul Razak, adding that TNB’s employees are “ambassadors of our values and dedication to sustainable growth.”

Environmental Responsibility: Leading the Way to a Low-Carbon Future
Aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the nation’s 2050 net-zero carbon goal, TNB has outlined ambitious strategies to accelerate its journey toward cleaner energy.

“In this era of energy transition, we’re not just keeping up with global trends; we’re setting the pace for a greener, more sustainable Malaysia,” said Tan Sri Abdul Razak.

TNB has ramped up efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by increasing investments in renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.

“Our Carbon Reduction Program reflects our pledge to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and to build an energy ecosystem that puts the environment first,” he noted, emphasizing TNB’s commitment to leading Malaysia’s green energy transition.

TNB’s Future Grid initiative focuses on implementing smart grid technology that optimizes energy distribution, reduces energy losses, and enhances grid resilience, especially in integrating renewable sources.

“By investing in a smarter grid, we’re building the backbone for a sustainable energy future, ensuring that clean energy flows efficiently across the nation,” Tan Sri Abdul Razak stated.

Social Initiatives: Empowering Communities and Fostering Equity
TNB’s commitment to ESG extends to its social responsibility, with initiatives that enhance community well-being, educational outreach, and social inclusivity.

“We believe in giving back to the communities that sustain us. Our mission is not just about providing energy, but also about empowering individuals and supporting equitable growth,” said Tan Sri Abdul Razak.

Community Programs and STEM Education: Through partnerships with educational institutions, TNB offers programs that encourage youth participation in STEM fields, with a focus on green and clean technology careers.

“Our goal is to prepare the next generation for a future where green energy plays a central role, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive,” he remarked.
