Three men suspected of involvement in extortion case, abduction of debt negotiator arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men suspected of involvement in an extortion case and the abduction of a debt negotiator last Tuesday.

Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were arrested at 1:20 am yesterday around Puncak Alam, Shah Alam, after receiving a report from a man claiming that his employee was assaulted and abducted by several individuals.

“The man reported that his employee, in his twenties, met a woman regarding the repayment of the company’s debt, but the victim was assaulted and abducted by several individuals, and a sum of RM2,000 cash belonging to him was also taken by the suspects.

“The suspects also contacted the man (complainant) to hand over RM7,000 if he wanted the victim to be released,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Hafiz said following the arrests, the police found the victim detained by the suspects and seized a Honda car, two mobile phones, and a bank card.

He said initial investigations found that all three suspects had four previous records including one drug-related offence.

“All suspects have been remanded for four days and the case is being investigated under Section 385 and Section 323 of the Penal Code,” he said.
