The Sultan of Selangor accepted Sanusi’s apology, told him to be polite as a leader
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, agreed to accept an apology from the Menteri Besar of Kedah, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, on behalf of fellow Muslims and the Malay nation.
Through a document shared on the Facebook page of the Selangor Royal Office, His Majesty does not want Muslims to always be hostile to each other and calls for forgiveness if the person apologizing is sincere.
“On this occasion, Beta would like to advise Datuk Seri (Sanusi) to always take care of speech and manners and not to be too emotional and use bad words when lecturing the common people, especially when in the state of Selangor.
“I don’t want the people, especially in Selangor, to be influenced and get used to hearing abusive words and baseless accusations, especially from the leaders. This good behavior and speech is very important for the future of Datuk Seri’s political career,” he said on Thursday.
As a leader, Sultan Sharafuddin advised Sanusi to think about the effect that will be obtained from every behavior that has been done.
He also hoped that Sanusi would continue to be successful and be facilitated in carrying out his duties and responsibilities.
Sanusi on Wednesday sent a letter of apology to Sultan Sharafuddin for the second time after the first was submitted on July 14 last year.
Through the document, Sanusi apologized to Sultan Sharafuddin for making a mistake when speaking in the state election campaign (PRN) on 11 July 2023 in Gombak, Selangor.
Following that, Sanusi expressed regret at the negative impact arising from the statement and stated that he did not intend to make fun of Sultan Sharafuddin, whom he greatly admires.
The statement made him accused in court under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948.
