KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 — Malaysian pop group The Fabulous Cats has returned with a brand-new Hari Raya single titled Satu Syawal, bringing festive cheer while delivering a heartfelt message about family and time.
The song was released through a collaboration with Luncai Emas Sdn. Bhd., marking the group’s latest musical project after several years of focusing on individual careers.
What makes the release particularly meaningful is that the song was originally written more than a decade ago before finally being completed and launched this year.
According to group member Cat, Satu Syawal was first composed around 2014 together with composer Adeeb, but the project was only recently revived and developed into a full release.
He explained that the track holds deep emotional value because several individuals who were involved in its early production have since passed away.
Remembering Those Who Contributed
Cat said the original recording sessions involved several collaborators who played an important role in the group’s creative journey.
Among them were the late Lok Yu, Kelly, and Abang Aji, who had contributed as session musicians during the recording process.
Their involvement, Cat noted, makes the song even more special as it reflects the memories of the people who once worked closely with the band.
He shared these reflections during the song’s official launch event held at Seeds Premier Hotel in Sri Petaling.

Beyond its upbeat festive sound, Satu Syawal also carries a message about appreciating family relationships.
Cat explained that the song highlights a situation that many people experience today — postponing visits to family members because of work commitments or personal reasons.
He said many people often say they will return home during the next festive season, but time is unpredictable and those opportunities may not always come again.
Through this song, the group hopes to encourage listeners to cherish their loved ones and spend meaningful time together.
Returning to Create Music
The release of Satu Syawal also marks a renewed creative phase for The Fabulous Cats.
However, Cat clarified that the group does not intend to make a full-scale comeback.
Instead, they prefer to work on new music when the right opportunities arise.
He noted that each member remains active in the entertainment industry through different projects.
For instance, Ruffedge continues to be active in the music scene, Alyah is pursuing her solo career, while Adeep is involved in music production behind the scenes.
Despite their individual commitments, Cat said the members are always open to collaborating again if a suitable project comes along.
Song Began as a Festive Advertisement
Interestingly, Satu Syawal initially started as part of a Hari Raya advertising campaign with Bigworks Properties.
Over time, the project evolved into a complete song that is now officially released to the public.
With its lively melody and emotional message about family bonds, the song is expected to resonate with both long-time fans and new listeners.
Cat expressed hope that the song will strengthen the unity within The Fabulous Cats while maintaining the group’s identity in the Malaysian music scene.
Future Plans and Potential Performances
The launch event was organised by Beatus Live, with support from several strategic partners including Bigworks, Ruby F&B, Luncai Emas, and Loket MY.
Beatus Live director Bella Dowanna said the project was not only about launching a festive song but also about creating music with emotional depth and storytelling that resonates with the community.
She added that the collaboration between Beatus Live and The Fabulous Cats is expected to continue with additional projects in the future.
Among the possibilities being considered are special showcases or concert performances.
Cat said that performing live on a large stage remains a dream for many artists, including the members of The Fabulous Cats.
However, he stressed that such plans require careful preparation and cannot be organised in a short period of time.
The song Satu Syawal is now available on all major music streaming platforms, while its music video features a modern visual concept that incorporates Hybrid AI technology.
