The decision regarding Rosmah’s representation to drop the charges was known on Sept 6
KUALA LUMPUR: The decision regarding the third representation submitted by the former prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, to the Attorney General’s Department (AGC) to drop the 17 charges she is facing will be known on September 6.
Twelve of the charges related to money laundering involving more than RM7 million, while the other five charges related to his failure to declare income to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).
Rosmah’s lawyer, Datuk Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin, told the trial judge, K. Muniandy, that an agreement had been reached regarding the representation sent by his client and that he was now just waiting for the paperwork to be finalised.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib in his response confirmed that the representation was almost finalized.
“It’s just waiting for documentation before we can proceed with the court order,” he said.
Muniandy then set Sept 6 for both parties to inform the court about the final decision.
This is the third representation sent by Rosmah, 72. The first and second representations were sent on May 3 and August 18 last year, respectively, but they have yet to be decided by the AGC.
The wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also filed an application to be acquitted and released from all 17 charges on October 4, 2020.
Rosmah, 72, is alleged to have committed the offense at Affin Bank Berhad, Bangunan Getah Asli Branch, Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, between December 4, 2013 and June 8, 2017 and at LHDN, Kompleks Bangunan Kerajaan, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, in Kuala Lumpur, from May 1, 2014, to May 1, 2018.
So far, two witnesses have testified in the trial, which began on August 24 last year.
