The CIDBH – iENTRY system for the management of foreign construction workers
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) on Monday, through its subsidiary CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd, launched the CIDBH-iiENTRY System to improve the management of foreign workers in the construction industry.
In a statement on Monday, CIDB informed that it also aims to introduce the use of an integrated system in ensuring compliance with laws related to the welfare and safety of skilled foreign workers.
“Among the main features of this system is managing the registration of foreign workers through a biometric system after they receive a Construction Skills Competence Certificate (SKKP) in the source country that is certified and verified by CIDB and the holistic monitoring of the welfare of foreign workers, including the management of their accommodation,” said CIDB.
In addition, it also facilitates employers in complying with the conditions set under the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 (Act 520), the Minimum Standard Housing, Accommodation, and Employee Facilities Act 1990 (Act 446), and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
CIDB said with the implementation of the CIDBH-iiENTRY System, the monitoring of foreign workers and legal compliance will be more effective, thus ensuring the well-being and safety of foreign workers.
In addition, the system also helps the government deal with the issue of uncertified foreign workers by ensuring that only workers with valid certification are allowed to work on construction sites and indirectly reduces safety risks on construction sites.
According to CIDB records, there are a total of 465,591 foreign construction workers registered with CIDB nationwide until September 2024, while in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor alone, the numbers are 150,699 and 166,456, respectively.
