The Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT was disrupted due to a fire on the track
KUALA LUMPUR: The Light Transit (LRT) service on the Ampang/Sri Petaling route was disrupted due to a technical fault caused by a fire in one of the components on the track near the PWTC Station on Sunday.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) said in a statement that the incident at 9.58 had caused the LRT service to be delayed.
He said the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and the police arrived at the scene at 10.15 to control and monitor.
“Rapid Rail’s engineering team is also carrying out overhaul works to restore operations as soon as possible,” the statement said on Sunday.
Following the incident, Rapid Rail has activated alternative train services to allow users to continue their journeys.
Intermediate train services are available between Sultan Ismail Station and Sentul Timur Station, as well as trains from Ampang and Putra Heights Station that turn around at Sultan Ismail Station.
Rapid Rail, meanwhile, apologized for the inconvenience the passengers had to face.
In the latest update at 3pm this afternoon, Rapid Rail informed us that the repair work on the track involved has now been completed.
“Alternative train services and intermediate buses are also terminated.
“The travel schedule has been adjusted, and train services are operating normally,” the statement added.
