Tengku Zafrul to file own affidavit to ‘correct factual errors’
In an attempt to rectify “factual errors” in an earlier document that stated the former King had granted Datuk Seri Najib Razak an amendment order allowing him to serve the balance of his sentence under house arrest, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz will file a new affidavit.
Najib’s plea to force the government to provide the alleged order was supported by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s affidavit, which he said needed to be corrected to “correct certain factual errors” today.
This was after Tengku Zafrul sighted a supplementary affidavit by Zahid regarding Najib’s application.
“I will obtain appropriate legal advice and seek to write to the High Court to ask for permission or leave to file an affidavit to correct certain factual errors contained in the affidavit in question.
“I take no position in so far as the merits of the ongoing dispute is concerned but I merely wish to ensure that the factual record is properly reflected and recorded so that all parties and in particular the High Court is properly appraised of all material facts.
“This will ultimately allow for a just and fair decision to be made in the interest of all parties concerned,” said the investment, trade and industry minister.
Earlier today, Zahid, in a affidavit, claimed he had sighted an addendum order from the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
Zahid had claimed that the document was shown to him by Tengku Zafrul at his house near Country Heights on Jan 30.
He said Tengku Zafrul showed him a copy of the addendum order on his phone which he personally photographed or scanned from an original copy as shown to him by the former King.
