SPM 2023: 11,713 candidates obtain all A grades
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 11,713 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 candidates, or 3.1 percent, achieved excellent results of A+, A, and A- in all subjects.
Director-General of Education Azman Adnan said this figure indicates an improvement compared to the previous year, which saw 10,109 candidates, or 2.7 percent, achieve similar results.
“This means, in terms of achievement, our quality is increasing. The number shows an increase of 1,604 candidates in excellent results,” he said at a media briefing announcing the analysis of SPM 2023 results here today.
He said the achievement of SPM candidates in 2023 was better, with a National Average Grade (GPN) of 4.60 compared to 4.74 the previous year.
“A total of 226,358 out of 373,255 new SPM 2023 candidates passed at least all subjects taken, compared to 57.1 percent or 213,624 candidates in 2022.
“A total of 83,112 candidates, or 22.3 percent, in SPM 2023 achieved credits, meaning at least a grade C for all subjects, compared to 75,322 candidates, or 20.1 percent, in 2022.
“This figure shows an increase of 7,790 candidates, or 2.1 percent,” he said.
Meanwhile, 131,489 candidates, or 35.2 percent, obtained at least a pass or grade E in all subjects taken in 2023, compared to 128,193 candidates, or 34.3 percent, in 2022.
Azman said a total of 349,297 candidates, or 93.5 percent of SPM 2023 candidates, are eligible to receive certificates, compared to 342,742 candidates, or 91.6 percent, in SPM 2022.
Candidates can obtain their SPM examination results from their respective schools starting at 10 a.m. today.
Candidates can also check their results online at the link myresultspm.moe.gov.my, from 10 a.m. today until 6 p.m. on June 2.
