KUALA LUMPUR: The son and former political secretary of Perlis Menteri, Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, will be charged in two separate courts tomorrow over allegations of submitting false claims worth RM600,000.

Tan Sri Azam Baki, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), stated that Mohd Shukri’s son, who is also a company owner, will be charged in the Kangar Sessions Court, Perlis, while his former political secretary will face charges in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

“Both will be charged under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 at 8 AM,” he told Bernama.

Mohd Shukri’s son was remanded by MACC on April 24, along with five other suspects, to assist in the investigation related to the false claims case and was released on MACC bail on April 26.

In addition, Mohd Shukri was detained by MACC six days later regarding issues of power abuse involving infrastructure development projects in Perlis since 2022 and was released on MACC bail after eight hours of questioning.
