Seven masterminds of the non-existent job offer fraud syndicate arrested

MELAKA: The Melaka police arrested seven local citizens, including a woman, for being suspected of being involved in a non-existent job offer fraud syndicate involving 10 cases with a loss of RM132,390.80.

Melaka Tengah District Police Chief ACP Christopher Patit said all those aged 16 to 26 were arrested in a raid at an apartment in Kota Laksamana here that functions as a call center at 5pm yesterday.

He said the fraud syndicate is suspected to have been active for the past three weeks and is targeting the people of this country as victims.

He said the syndicate then gave altered receipts to the victims to convince them that the commission payment had been made.

“The syndicate is believed to be involved in 10 cases of fraud involving non-existent job offers involving various police contingents other than Melaka.
