Selangor Welcomes More Taiwanese Tourists For 2024
SELANGOR, 20 December 2023 — Tourism Selangor is strategically shifting its focus to draw in a greater number of international tourists for Visit Selangor Year 2025, through the sales mission to Taiwan, spearheaded by the Honourable Ng Suee Lim, the EXCO of Local Government and Tourism of Selangor.
Geared towards showcasing the charm of both the Southern and Northern regions of Selangor, the trip successfully brought together a diverse group of over 100 buyers in Taipei and Kaohsiung. This included key tourism industry players like Farm in the City, GL Play by Gamuda Land, Sky Mirror, Hong Long International Group Sdn Bhd, Golden Point, Pearl Holiday and On Holiday Sdn Bhd, and collaboration with the Municipal Councils of Sabak Bernam, Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor and the Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated.
Anchored by the global tourism campaign, “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!”, this initiative serves as a pivotal platform for fostering international relationships and establishing connections to showcase Selangor’s diverse attractions, ranging from eco-tourism, theme parks, cultural and heritage, and splendid shopping and leisure experiences.
The Honourable Ng Suee Lim, the EXCO of Local Government and Tourism in a statement said, that Selangor has received 75,783 tourists from Taiwan pre-pandemic. Unfortunately, the number has decreased to 68% due to travel restrictions throughout the pandemic.
“However with the travel ban lifted, we can see a surge of tourists from Taiwan with 15,503 tourists inflow from Taiwan last year and a flight frequency of 59 flights per week recorded in 2022”, he added.
The trip showcased diverse gastronomic delights of Selangor including the flavourful Bak Kut Teh and immersed Taiwanese visitors in the cultural richness of Chinese Community Villages in Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor and Sabak Bernam. Additionally, the trip highlighted enticing tourist attractions, such as Sky Mirror in Kuala Selangor, mesmerising fireflies sightseeing in Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor, Eagle Feeding in Kuala Selangor and adventurous activities like Paragliding and White Water Rafting in Hulu Selangor.
