RM2.4 Billion Export Potential from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan Offers Big Opportunities for Malaysian Companies – Tengku Zafrul
KUALA LUMPUR: The export potential worth RM2.4 billion from businesses in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signals significant opportunities for Malaysian companies in the Central Asian region.
Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz said this large figure reflects the growing trust among their business communities in Malaysia as a strategic partner in trade and investment.
“MITI will ensure that the export commitment is realized as quickly as possible to support Malaysia’s GDP growth.
“There are many opportunities for Malaysian companies there,” he said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) today.
Tengku Zafrul stated that through MATRADE’s presence in Almaty and Tashkent, MITI will expand business opportunities for Malaysian companies and translate them into commercial opportunities for SMEs and jobs for the people.
He was part of the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan from May 14–19.
He noted that Malaysia and Uzbekistan also agreed to reactivate the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting.
“JTC serves as a platform to address significant issues, discuss existing and potential new areas of cooperation, strengthen private sector cooperation, and further promote trade and investment between the two countries,” he said.
