Rescuers Recovered Last Body In Southern Philippine Landslide
MANILA, Jan 21 (NNN-PNA) – Rescuers yesterday recovered the body of the last missing man, buried in Thursday’s rain-induced landslide, that ripped through a mining village in Davao de Oro province, in the southern Philippines, officials said.
In a social media post, the municipal government of Monkayo said, rescuers found the body of the 45-year-old man, the last person missing, bringing the death toll in the village to 11.
Local authorities also reported that two died in a separate landslide in a village in Davao City, in Davao del Sur province.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said, over 83,000 families, or more than 349,000 people, have been affected by flooding and landslides, due to massive rains in four provinces in the Davao region on Mindanao island.– NNN-PNA
