Razlan Razali Resigns as MAM Treasurer to Focus on Expanding Business Interests

PETALING JAYA, March 13 — Former Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chief executive Datuk Razlan Razali has stepped down from his position as treasurer of the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), effective immediately, as he shifts his focus to expanding business commitments.

Razlan confirmed that the decision was made after discussions with MAM president Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, particularly regarding the challenges of balancing his growing business responsibilities with his role in the national motorsports governing body.

He explained that his business ventures are currently experiencing rapid growth, requiring significant attention and time, which ultimately made it difficult for him to continue fulfilling his responsibilities within MAM.

Decision Made in the Interest of the Association

Razlan emphasised that he did not want to retain the treasurer role if he was unable to fully contribute to the organisation.

According to him, it would be more beneficial for the position to be held by someone who can dedicate sufficient time and effort to supporting the association’s development.

He added that stepping aside would allow another individual to assume the role and contribute more effectively to MAM’s administration and future plans.

Razlan believes that new leadership could also bring fresh perspectives and ideas to strengthen the organisation.

Maintaining Strong Ties with Motorsports

Despite resigning from his official role, Razlan stressed that his passion for motorsports remains unchanged.

He noted that his professional relationships with industry stakeholders, including global motorsports rights holder Dorna Sports, remain strong.

Razlan said he will continue to follow developments in the motorsports sector and remain connected to the industry even as he concentrates on his business ventures.

MAM Acknowledges His Contribution

In a separate statement, MAM confirmed that Razlan had formally submitted his resignation letter as treasurer with immediate effect.

The association expressed appreciation for Razlan’s longstanding contributions to the development of motorsports in Malaysia.

According to the statement, Razlan has played a significant role in the motorsports industry for decades.

His passion for racing and motorsports event management led him to hold key responsibilities at Sepang International Circuit, where he helped elevate the circuit’s reputation as host of prestigious international events such as Formula 1 and MotoGP.

Supporting the Development of Racing Talent

MAM also highlighted Razlan’s dedication to nurturing young racing talent throughout his career.

He played a major role in establishing the SIC Racing Team, which later evolved into his own team, the RNF Racing MotoGP Team.

Through these initiatives, Razlan helped create opportunities for Malaysian riders to compete at the highest levels of international motorsports.

His efforts in promoting local talent and strengthening Malaysia’s presence in global racing have been widely recognised within the motorsports community.

With his resignation now effective, Razlan is expected to concentrate on expanding his business activities while maintaining his long-standing connection to the world of motorsports.
