Police Report Against Chegubard, Salim Iskandar, and Papagomo for False Allegations – MCMC
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has lodged a police report against three individuals, namely Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, Mohamad Salim Iskandar (Salim Iskandar), and Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris (Papagomo), for making and spreading false allegations against MCMC officers.
MCMC stated that the police report was filed yesterday based on the content uploaded by the three individuals on social media platforms TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube on April 17.
“The content depicted MCMC officers as if they were acting under politically motivated directives, besides being characterized as an abuse of power,” MCMC said in a statement here today.
At the same time, MCMC informed us that some of the three individuals had slandered MCMC by stating that the officers involved in the recorded conversations were fed up with the current government and questioned when the government would change.
“As a statutory body, MCMC carries out its duties and responsibilities based on the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and all subsidiary laws contained therein,” the statement said.
Therefore, MCMC vehemently denies the allegations made by these individuals and leaves it to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to conduct an investigation. MCMC stated that the dissemination of false content, including with the intention of disrupting others, is an offense under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588).
Offenders can be fined up to RM50,000, imprisoned for up to one year, or both upon conviction.
