Police Receive Two Reports Linked to Activist Cikgu Chandra as Investigations Intensify
PETALING JAYA — Selangor police have confirmed receiving two police reports related to alleged acts of vandalism and criminal intimidation involving activist S. Chandrasegaran, widely known as Cikgu Chandra.
Authorities are currently conducting detailed investigations into the incidents, which reportedly occurred in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, and are examining several possible angles to determine the motive behind the acts.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the first case involves allegations of mischief and threats against the 47-year-old activist, prompting police to initiate investigations under Section 427 and Section 506 of the Penal Code.
Section 427 relates to causing damage to property, while Section 506 addresses criminal intimidation.
Police are currently collecting evidence and statements from individuals who may be able to assist in clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Second Incident Involves Fire Damage to Vehicle
In addition to the first case, police have also opened another investigation concerning an incident involving fire damage to a vehicle at the same location.
The second case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which covers offences involving mischief by fire or explosive substances.
Authorities are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected or if they occurred independently.
Shazeli said investigators are examining all available leads and reviewing evidence to identify those responsible.
“Police are conducting comprehensive investigations from multiple angles to determine the motive as well as the individuals involved in the incidents,” he said in an official statement released today.
Authorities Urge Public to Remain Calm
Police have urged the public to remain calm and refrain from making assumptions or spreading speculation regarding the incidents.
Shazeli warned that unverified information or provocative remarks could potentially disrupt public order and create unnecessary tensions within the community.
He stressed that maintaining social harmony is crucial, particularly when incidents that attract public attention are being investigated.
“The public is advised not to make any speculation or provoke issues that may affect racial harmony or public peace,” he said.
Strict Action Against Lawbreakers
The police chief also assured that strict legal action will be taken against any individual found to be involved in the alleged offences.
Authorities remain committed to ensuring that the investigation is conducted thoroughly and fairly in accordance with the law.
The police will also monitor any developments that could influence public safety or social stability.
Public Assistance Requested
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have called on members of the public who may possess information related to the incidents to come forward.
Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to report to the nearest police station or provide details that may assist investigators in identifying suspects.
Shazeli emphasised that cooperation from the public can significantly help authorities expedite the investigation process.
For now, the case remains under investigation, and police are continuing efforts to gather evidence and review all possible leads before further action is taken.
