PAC will start proceedings on issues raised in LKAN Series 2/2024
KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will begin proceedings for the four issues raised in the Auditor General’s Report (LKAN) Series 2/2024.
PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said it involved the National Water Management proceedings under the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Natural Sustainability (NRESS) on July 29, as well as the Sarawak and Sabah Rural Water Supply Project Management proceedings in under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) on July 30.
In addition, the proceedings of MARA Incorporated Sdn Bhd under KKDW on 31 July and the proceedings of the Council of National Professors under the Prime Minister’s Department on 1 August.
Mas Ermieyati said the PAC will resume the proceedings of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) on August 7 by calling among them Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and former LTAT Chairman General (B) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
“In addition, PAC will also continue the proceedings regarding the Rice Planting Management Program under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security on August 6. These proceedings have been held twice on December 13, 2023 and March 26, 2024,” he said in a press conference at the Parliament building today. .
In the meantime, Mas Ermieyati stressed the importance of the PAC reports that have been presented for debate in the Dewan Rakyat.
“Debating the PAC reports allows the people to know the matters investigated by the PAC, thus providing an opportunity for Members of Parliament to better understand the issues reported in more depth,” he said.
Mas Ermieyati also welcomed the appointment of Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok Suh Sim as PAC Vice Chairman to replace Kluang Member of Parliament Wong Shu Qi.
“PAC believes that his experience as a Member of Parliament since 1999 and former Minister of Primary Industries can make PAC more authoritative in ensuring that every report presented has an impact on the government,” he said, who also expressed his appreciation to Wong for his service in the committee since April 4, 2023. .
Earlier, the Dewan Rakyat approved a motion brought by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Legislation and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, for Kok to be elected as PAC Vice Chairman.
