Our Raja exhibition starts tomorrow, the personal collection of the Agong, Raja Permaisuri is on display
KUALA LUMPUR: More than 272 collections and items related to the Institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, as well as the personal collections of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah, will be exhibited at the Raja Kita Exhibition at the National Museum starting tomorrow.
National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the special exhibition, which runs until September 29, among other things, displays the Federal regalia collection, the personal collection of His Majesty the two, a collection on loan from the Office of the Keeper of the Great Seal of the Kings and the Abu Bakar Johor Royal Museum.
He said there are also historic collections, such as manuscripts and treaty documents related to the King’s Institution, from other agencies, including the National Archives and the National Library.
More interestingly, the main element highlighted in the exhibition is related to the Constitution of the Johor Government 1895, which was signed and proclaimed by Sultan Abu Bakar on September 14, 1895, at the Johor Grand Palace, he said.
“This exhibition is also held as an initiative to elevate the Institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in the system of Parliamentary Democracy and the Concept of a Constitutional Monarch so that it continues to be preserved as a symbol of sovereignty that protects every citizen of this country.
“This allows the people to appreciate the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong while also getting to know His Majesty’s personality even more closely, thus fueling the slogan ‘king and people are never separated’,” he said at the opening ceremony of the Raja Kita Exhibition here today.
The special exhibition was officiated by the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fahmi, who is also the Minister Chairman of the Special Events Committee, in conjunction with the Enthronement Ceremony of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Also present were the Director General of the Malaysian Museums Department, Datuk Kamarul Baharin A. Kasim, and the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories, Dr. Zaliha Mustafa).
The Raja Kita exhibition in Galleries 1 and 2 at the National Museum is part of the events organized in conjunction with the Enthronement Ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which took place last Saturday.
Aaron said the exhibition translates to the people that the institution of the Constitutional Monarch, which has its own privileges and uniqueness, must be defended and fought for as the sovereignty of the nation in accordance with the second Rukun Negara, Loyalty to the King and State.
He said the institution was important because it became the ‘umbrella of the nation’s sovereignty, sheltering all the people who are multi-racial, religious, cultural, and ethnic and able to form a Malaysian nation that loves the country, is patriotic, and is united because the king is the symbol of the national umbrella.
“Through the various programs implemented by this ministry, appreciation of the important values of Rukun Negara will continue to be strengthened at all levels of society.
“These efforts will continue to be intensified in conjunction with the 55th anniversary of Rukun Negara next year,” he said.
Aaron further informed us that the Royal Museum at Jalan Istana will be reopened to the public in 2026 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
