Obesity problem among civil servants, healthy activities need to be promoted – Mohd Zuki
PUTRAJAYA: Healthy activities need to be promoted in the public service whether at the agency, ministry or individual level as most civil servants face the problem of obesity.
Chief Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the activity was necessary because the problem of obesity among the people exceeded 50 percent and most involved civil servants in Putrajaya.
“So, it is important for these people to be involved in healthy activities including running programs as a start to encourage them (to live a healthy life),” he said.
He said this to reporters after Putrajaya’s Vehicle Free Day (CFD) program and the Public Service Prime Minister’s Mandate Council (MAPPA) XIX 2024 which was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof here today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Director General of Public Services (KPPA) Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz were also present.
Regarding the National Day celebrations, Mohd Zuki said all departments and agencies were asked to respond to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call to fly the Jalur Gemilang throughout this month.
“Beginning 1 (August) most ministries and agencies have taken the initiative to fuel the celebration of the National Month.
“Besides flying the Jalur Gemilang, they also hold other programs such as poetry readings and patriotic activities,” he said.
On July 21 last, Anwar in the launch ceremony of the National Month and Flying of the Jalur Gemilang 2024 ordered all parties including the public and private sector to fly the Jalur Gemilang as a sign of loyalty, sacrifice and support for the spirit of independence gained by the country 67 years ago.
Meanwhile, the CFD program is again organized by Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) on the fourth week of every month after the last time it was organized in 2019.
The program aims to provide opportunities for the surrounding residents to carry out various healthy leisure activities such as walking and riding bicycles.
During the period of the CFD, a complete road closure will be made in Dataran Putrajaya starting from Menara Prisma Intersection to Menara Tulus Intersection.
