No Malaysians affected by Typhoon Gaemi in Taiwan, Philippines – Wisma Putra
KUALA LUMPUR: There are no reports of Malaysians affected by Typhoon Gaemi in Taiwan or the Philippines, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (Wisma Putra).
In a statement, the ministry said that through the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Center in Taipei, it is closely monitoring the path of Typhoon Gaemi.
Wisma Putra said the typhoon hit Taiwan early Thursday morning local time.
As of 5pm on Thursday, there were no reports of Malaysians affected by the typhoon, he said.
The Ministry advises Malaysians in need of consular assistance in Taiwan to contact the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Center in Taipei at Floor 8, San Ho Plastic Building, No. 102, North Dun Hua road, Taipei, Taiwan. In a separate statement, the ministry said it was monitoring the situation in the Philippines after Typhoon Gaemi, known locally as Typhoon Carina.
The Malaysian Embassy in Manila is closely monitoring the aftermath of the typhoon.
To date, no Malaysians have been reported to have been affected by the typhoon in Manila.
Wisma Putra urges Malaysians in the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow the safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
