Negeri Sembilan will hold a meeting to discuss the South Bound Economic Corridor
NILAI: Negeri Sembilan will hold a meeting with the leaders of Melaka and Johor in the near future to discuss in detail the proposal to establish the South Bound Economic Corridor.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the establishment of the corridor will prioritize the industrial and investment sectors and thus be able to have a positive impact, especially on the economic chain of the states involved, in addition to guaranteeing the welfare of the people.
“We have discussed the matter, but not in detail and we will hold a meeting, God willing, no matter where or who will be the host, especially the three states namely Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.
“That is also an important thing because we are one of the states that do not have such a corridor compared to other states, but we are not pressing to do it for sure; we want to have a meeting first, have a good discussion, and suggest what our plan is,” he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating the Negeri Sembilan Fest (NS Fest) 2024 program, which was held for eight days starting yesterday at Dataran Nilai here today.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh was previously reported as saying that the state plans to establish the South Anjung Economic Corridor involving Negeri Sembilan and Johor, which will benefit in various aspects.
He said a master committee would be formed in the near future to start negotiations, work motions and collaborative studies related to the proposal.
Ab Rauf said since the three states border each other, an economic corridor development that can provide common interests to the people of the three states must be created.
