MSA Festival and Awards 2024: A Feast of Innovation and Excellence in Media

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysia Media Specialist Association (MSA) hosted the MSA Festival and Awards 2024 at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya, transforming the venue into a vibrant hub of creativity and insight. The event, themed “Charting New Horizons,” attracted over 1,000 visionaries from the marketing, communications, and media industries.

Andora Fredericks of Truth Communications Sdn Bhd described the event as “a gathering of an eclectic mix of clients, media professionals, tech pioneers, and industry sponsors, all gathered to explore the future of media.” The day was filled with thought-provoking sessions, each dedicated to challenging norms and imagining what’s next in the media landscape.

The event kicked off with a keynote speech from Dr. William Tan, the “Singapore Paralympic Superman,” whose story of resilience resonated deeply with attendees. Fredericks noted, “Dr. Tan’s message was clear: the future of media is not a script already written, but a canvas waiting to be painted with innovation, inclusivity, and boldness.”

Among the highlights were insights from Albern Murthy, Deputy CEO of CelcomDigi, who spoke on how rapid technological convergence is reshaping marketing and media. Additionally, Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan from Keluar Sekejap offered visionary perspectives on media communications, while digital influencers like Khairul Aming discussed their role in shaping modern narratives.

As the day transitioned into MSA Awards Night, the industry’s best and brightest were celebrated. Fredericks described the evening as “a glittering celebration of the industry’s best,” with the awarding of the prestigious Grand Prix trophy along with the titles of Advertiser of the Year and Agency of the Year.

Sheila Shanmugam, President of MSA and Organizing Chairperson of the MSA Awards, set the tone for the evening with her opening address. “The future isn’t predetermined; it’s an unwritten narrative awaiting our collective bravery,” she proclaimed, reinforcing the festival’s role as a launchpad for the industry’s next great leap forward.
