KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Transport is asking shipping industry participants and maritime stakeholders to come forward with ideas and proposals to boost Malaysia’s competitiveness in the sector.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said his party will gather all the ideas and suggestions before presenting them to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for consideration in the 2025 Budget, which is scheduled to be presented in October.

“We want the MOF to facilitate and encourage more investment in the local shipping industry because this is important for the economy and security of our country,” he said while speaking at the opening ceremony of Malaysia Maritime Week (MMW) 2024 here on Tuesday.
