Malaysians in areas affected by the earthquake in southern California are advised to be vigilant
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians who are in the earthquake-affected areas in southern California are advised to be vigilant and adhere to the safety guidelines issued by the local authorities, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate General of Malaysia in Los Angeles, is actively monitoring the situation following the 5.2-magnitude earthquake that occurred near Bakersfield, southern California.
The epicenter was located about 24 kilometers southwest of Lamont and about 40 kilometers south of Bakersfield. The earthquake struck around 9.09 local time, he said.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the development and provide necessary updates to ensure the safety and well-being of all Malaysians in the affected areas,” according to the statement.
