Malaysia Airlines confirmed that flight MH156 experienced technical problems
SEPANG: Malaysia Airlines confirmed the incident involving flight MH156 from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah, which had to turn back due to technical problems shortly after take off.
In a statement on Sunday, it said the plane landed safely at 4.56.
“All passengers have been provided temporary accommodation in a hotel, and the new flight is scheduled for 9 a.m. on August 5, 2024,” according to the statement.
Malaysia Airlines said the safety and well-being of passengers and crew will continue to be their priority.
It is understood that the flight brought 259 pilgrims from two agencies to perform Umrah.
A passenger claimed that the plane experienced tremors during take-off and hovered in Malaysian airspace for about two hours before turning back to KLIA.
The plane, which took off at about 2.50 , reached an altitude of 10,000 feet, then began to descend to 6,000 feet at 4.15 , before making several more turns and finally landing safely at about 5pm.
