Mahkota State Assembly by-election: Representative of the Unity Government from BN – Ahmad Zahid
KUALA LUMPUR: The candidate for the Unity Government in the Mahkota State Assembly by-election (PRK) is from the National Front (BN), said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He, who is also the BN Chairman, said that, as usual, the party holding the State Assembly or Parliament seat involved will be re-contested by the party in question.
Ahmad Zahid said further details will be discussed in the Political Bureau and Supreme Council of UMNO and then the decision will be brought to the Secretariat Council of the Unity Government.
“We know that the Mahkota state assembly in the area has potential for us (BN) to continue to win and of course we want to coordinate with all parties in the Unity Government.
“Usually the understanding that is the formula for the Unity Government is that the seat represented by any party should be re-contested by that party,” he said in a press conference today.
He said this at a press conference after attending the Secretariat Meeting of the National Entrepreneur and PMKS (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Development Council (SEK-MPUPK) at the Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation (SME Corp Malaysia) Headquarters.
Also present were Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick and his deputy, Datuk R. Ramanan, CEO of SME Corp Malaysia Rizal Nainy and Chief Statistician of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin.
