Mahkota by-election: Police pass 13 speech permits, mobile campaign
KLUANG: The police have approved 13 permits for talks and mobile campaigns applied for by political parties contesting for the Mahkota State Assembly by-election (PRK) since the nomination day last Saturday until today.
Kluang District Police Chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh said of the total, seven permits involved talks, and the remaining six were for mobile campaigns, while no permit applications had been rejected so far.
“A total of 11 permits were approved for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) bloc involving six talks and five mobile campaigns, while for Barisan Nasional (BN) one talk and one mobile campaign each.
The Mahkota state assembly by-election witnessed a one-on-one clash between BN candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah and PN candidate Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.
This by-election was held following the death of its incumbent Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on August 2 last while receiving treatment at Enche’s Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital here.
In addition to the voting day on Sept. 28, the SPR also set Sept. 24 as an early voting day.
