MACC is not involved in the GISB investigation – Azam Baki
BANGI: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that it will not be involved in the investigation into Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB) Holdings (since it is under the jurisdiction of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
Its Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, informed that the issues being investigated, including child exploitation, money laundering, and heresy, are matters that need to be dealt with by the police and religious agencies.
“I stand by my statement; the MACC will not be involved in this GISB investigation. This involves the PDRM and JAKIM because of the issues I have seen, firstly the issue of understanding, the issue of children, the issue of money laundering and so on, This is more to the police’s investigation. So the MACC will not interfere in this investigation,” he said.
He said this when met by the media after the Opening Ceremony of the 3rd National Level Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Research Conference 2024 in Bangi on Thursday.
He added that the case also involved a private company and not an interested body that can make decisions in the government sector.
“If they misuse their power, they don’t even have power; if they misuse their power in our sense, they have the power to make decisions in the government. We will investigate that. These are civilians, so they are ordinary companies, so this is the work of the police ,” he said again.
