Kuala Kubu Baharu By-Election: Issue of Debt Spreads, PN Candidate Is Unwilling to Respond

HULU SELANGOR: After controversy surrounding his academic status, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Bharu State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election, Khairul Azhari Saut, once again finds himself embroiled in allegations of debt involving community credit services.

However, the acting Chief of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Hulu Selangor took a cautious step by avoiding commenting on the issue when questioned by reporters after the PN inaugural speech in Batang Kali on Wednesday night.

He gave the reason that he needed to go to another location even though the campaign time was until midnight during each election.

“No comment, thank you. I need to go to another location,” he said briefly when asked to comment on the matter.

Previously, a post on social media questioning the credibility of the PN candidate, born in Felda Tengi, Kuala Kubu Baharu, who was alleged to still be burdened with a debt of RM37,363 with a community credit service company, went viral.

Since the nomination day of the by-election on April 27, Khairul Azhari has faced controversy as various parties questioned the eligibility of his master’s degree without having a bachelor’s degree.

In response to this, he uploaded a certificate and transcript of an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) via a Facebook post.

This action simultaneously ended the dispute from many parties while also indicating his reluctance to comment further as he wanted to focus on the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign.
