Kuala Kubu Baharu By-Election: ‘I have debts but not with Ah Long ‘ – PN Candidate

HULU SELANGOR: After two days of controversy regarding the issue of debts with community credit services circulating on social media, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, Khairul Azhari Saut, finally responded to the allegations. The Acting Chief of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Hulu Selangor asserted that the matter was a malicious slander against him.

“To me, it’s a malicious slander as it happened during the candidate nomination day last week.

“I was attacked when reporters asked about my academic qualification certificate. It’s not that I didn’t want to comment, but it wasn’t the right time then, and I didn’t lie (about my academic qualification).

“Including this recent issue, I have my own business, and I believe everyone in business has debts,” he said at a press conference after launching the Women’s Gempur PN in Batang Kali on Saturday.

Also present were Deputy President of Bersatu, Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu, and PN Women Chief, Datuk Seri Rina Harun.

Previously, Khairul Azhari avoided commenting on the issue when asked by reporters during a PN program last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, he believed that personal attacks during campaigns were not suitable for the electoral system. “I have debts for a house, car, and I’m not saying I have no debts. The crucial thing is that it’s not debts with loan sharks.

“If i make debts with loan sharks, they will hold all my bank accesses, I can’t go anywhere. The house might get red paint splashed out , but that’s not me,” he emphasized.
