KPKM ensures sufficient supply of Eid essentials

KLANG: The supply of food and raw materials for the celebration of Eid al-Fitr is guaranteed, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, today. He said the public need not worry as this matter would be ensured by his ministry (KPKM) through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA). “The ministry assures the supply of meat, chicken, and vegetables throughout the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

“We are confident that consumers will not face any problems obtaining Eid essentials as early preparations to increase supplies are always made by agencies under KPKM,” he said. He said this when met by the media at the launch of the Agro MADANI Syawal Festive Sales national level 2024 at the Taman Sri Andalas Farmers’ Market here today.

Mohamad said KPKM through FAMA would ensure that supplies at each Agro MADANI Syawal Festive Sales location are sufficient. The Agro MADANI Syawal Festive Sales is held at 113 locations out of 753 farmers’ market outlets nationwide from April 3 until the eve of Eid al-Fitr. Meanwhile, FAMA targets sales worth RM30.5 million throughout the sales program this year. This effort aims to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to conduct sales during the Eid al-Fitr season, which receives high demand from visitors.

In addition to fresh items such as meat, chicken, and vegetables, consumers also have the opportunity to obtain Eid al-Fitr delicacies such as ketupat, rendang, lemang, and various cakes for Eid requirements, which are also sold at these marketing outlets. At today’s event, the ‘Happy Hour’ Agro MADANI Cashless Combo Sales offering two combos, namely fresh combo and Eid vegetable combo, at a price of RM5 per combo, with savings of 70 percent from the actual price.

Mohamad also distributed donations to 30 orphans and distributed various snacks to visitors. Also held were sales of food industry and basic farming products (IMAT) entrepreneurial products, Agromas product sales, and sales promotions on the Agrobazaar Online portal.
