Khaled Nordin is ready to cooperate if called by PAC regarding LTAT
KOTA TINGGI: Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is ready to cooperate if the National Accounts Committee (PAC) is called for the upcoming Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) proceedings.
However, Mohamed Khaled said he has not yet received any notification from the PAC to attend the proceedings and only found out about it through the media.
“If I receive an invitation, God willing, I will attend,” he told reporters after launching the Ministry of Defense’s 2024 Pure Soul Program at the Johor State level in Kampung Bukit Sedili Besar, near here today.
He said LTAT’s operations are currently running smoothly and are on the right track to record good performance.
“During the day Pharmaniaga has announced its profit, God willing, other companies under LTAT, I believe, are on the right track; there is no need to sell, but through their own efforts, they are able to ensure that the company is in good condition and can make a profit.
“Thus, LTAT is guaranteed to announce dividends for military personnel who make LTAT their money depository as their pension savings fund,” he said.
Yesterday, PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin reportedly said he would call Mohamed Khaled and three former LTAT top management members as witnesses at the next LTAT proceedings next August.
The others are former LTAT Chairman General (B) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, former LTAT Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ahmad Nazim Abd Rahman and former LTAT Senior Strategy Director Dayana Rogayah Omar.
The LTAT proceedings are scheduled to continue on August 7 after the PAC held its first proceedings on June 20.
The proceedings were to seek clarification following the disclosure of the agency’s financial reserves, which were negative, as reported in the Auditor General’s Report (LKAN) last March.
LKAN revealed that LTAT did not make an explanation of the value of investments in its subsidiary companies amounting to RM812 million involving Boustead Holdings Bhd (RM768 million) and Pharmaniaga Bhd (RM44 million).
