Johor Condemns Attack Incidents Against 3 Football Players – Onn Hafiz

JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor Bahru government strongly condemns and views seriously the recent incidents involving three national football players.

Johor Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said he would not compromise with any party that triggers issues that could threaten harmony and safety in the state.

At the same time, he hoped that supporters of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) would not lose hope and continue to show high sportsmanship spirit while maintaining professionalism and fully supporting the team in every match.

“However, as a JDT supporter, I am disappointed with the decision of Selangor FC not to attend the Malaysian Super League and Charity Shield matches, which were supposed to take place this Friday, despite assurances from the Inspector-General of Police and the Johor Police Chief.

“(Indeed, the Johor Police have also agreed to deploy 1,500 police personnel to monitor the security aspects of the match,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Therefore, Onn Hafiz expressed congratulations and gratitude to the JDT team for their willingness, commitment, and professionalism shown in continuing with the scheduled matches, trusting the assurance given by the Royal Malaysia Police that the safety of the team, players, and supporters is a priority.

On May 2, national football player Akhyar Rashid was reported injured after being a victim of robbery in Terengganu.

On Sunday (May 5), Faisal Halim suffered fourth-degree burns after being attacked with acid by unknown individuals, causing injuries to his body.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night (May 7), the car window of JDT midfielder Safiq Rahim was smashed by unknown individuals near the JDT Training Center, Jalan Sri Gelam, here.
