JIM will implement six work process reforms, service delivery
PUTRAJAYA: Job rotation for chiefs, supervisors and immigration officers will be implemented immediately for officers who have served for more than three years, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
He said the move was one of six measures to reform the work process and service delivery of the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM).
Through a post on Facebook, he said the relevant officers have been identified and the transfer order will be implemented in stages to ensure that daily operations at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) are not affected.
The second step is to review and improve all standard operating procedures (SOPs) that cover aspects of entrance security control management, security stamp management, and visitor inspection management to close the space and opportunities for officers to manipulate and take advantage of the available spaces.
“The third step taken by JIM is to increase supervision and monitoring, including surprise inspections of group leaders and officers, to ensure compliance with effective instructions, which will be carried out continuously by integrity officers and supervisors,” he said.
He said strict action will be taken for officers who violate the instructions.
Shamsul Anuar said the next step is to improve the system to enable monitoring of transactions carried out on a daily basis to detect suspicious transactions.
The fifth step is to speed up the process of installing closed circuit cameras (CCTV) equipped with visual and audio in strategic locations for continuous monitoring in the control room.
He said the latter increased strategic cooperation with other enforcement agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), and other agencies from time to time.
On 18 September last, the MACC listed 11 main weaknesses involving JIM, thus opening up space for syndicates to bring in foreigners using the ‘counter setting’ modus operandi.
