KUALA LUMPUR: Istana Negara is now fully prepared to hold the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Coronation Ceremony tomorrow, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
He, who is also the Minister Chairman of the Special Committee for Events in conjunction with the 17th Agong’s Enthronement Ceremony, said that so far all preparations and rehearsals have been carried out to ensure the smoothness of the historic and glorious ceremony.
“We pray that the coronation ceremony that will take place tomorrow will not only be a beautiful memory for Malaysians but also a source of pride because we already know that the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is a draw for our country.
“This is a day that for those of us who are involved in the preparations, is full of excitement,” he said when met by Bernama at Istana Negara.
Earlier, Fahmi had the opportunity to review the full ceremony and listen to briefings from representatives of the International Conference Secretariat and Ceremonial Division, Istana Negara, and the Prime Minister’s Department.
Sultan Ibrahim, who pronounced and signed the Oath of Office as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on January 31, will be enthroned in a ceremony full of Malay sultanate traditions tomorrow.
Events in conjunction with the Enthronement Ceremony of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong began yesterday with the Yasin Reading Ceremony and Doa Selamat at the National Mosque at 5.30pm, followed by today’s Special Friday Sermon.
Another event that will be held is the Royal Dining Ceremony at Istana Negara on Saturday, while King Queen Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah agreed to go to the Orang Asli Hospital Gombak on July 23.
In addition, the Raja Kita Exhibition will be held at the National Museum on July 25 and open to the public the day after until September 2, which gives the public the opportunity to see about 130 royal collections at either the Federal or Johor state level.
