Israel vs Nepal badminton match accidentally broadcast – RTM
KUALA LUMPUR: The group stage men’s singles badminton match between Israeli and Nepali athletes was accidentally broadcast in less than five minutes on Olympic Channel 4 RTMKlik last Wednesday night.
Director General of Broadcasting Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman in a statement at midnight last night however said that Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has taken immediate action by changing the broadcast to another event which is handball.
RTM as the Official Broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games broadcast Lee Zii Jia’s match live on Okey Channel from 8.50pm to 9.30pm, 31 July (MyTV, Astro RTMKLIK).
“RTM broadcasts the Olympic Games live through Okey TV Channel and Sports Channel as well as six special channels on RTMKlik to fulfill the wishes of Malaysians who want to feel the warmth of the Olympic Games closer from July 27 to August 12,” he said.
Yesterday evening, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has asked RTM to provide an explanation regarding the alleged lack of live broadcast of the national men’s singles professional badminton player Lee Zii Jia in the final group stage match of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, on Wednesday.
It followed a Facebook user expressing dissatisfaction when RTM as the national broadcaster did not broadcast Zii Jia’s action against the 62nd player in the world from Spain Pablo Abian, instead broadcasting the match between Israeli athlete Misa Zilberman and Nepalese athlete Prince Dahal
