India urges citizens in Israel to avoid unnecessary travel
New Delhi: India on Friday asked its nationals in Israel to avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay vigilant in view of rising regional tensions.
“All Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the local authorities,” an advisory by Indian Embassy in Israel wrote on X.
Urging citizens to “exercise cautions,” the advisory asked them to “avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to safety shelters.” “The Embassy is closely monitoring the situations and remain in regular touch with the Israel authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals.”
The move comes amid rising tensions and the potential for a broader conflict in the region after the assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr by Israel on Tuesday and accusations by Hamas and Iran that Tel Aviv is also behind the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Palestinian group’s political bureau, in the Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday.
