Immunization side effects: MOH will ask AstraZeneca for clarification.

HULU SELANGOR: The Ministry of Health (MOH) plans to ask AstraZeneca, a pharmaceutical corporation, for clarification on the adverse effects of the COVID-19 vaccination that have lately been published by foreign media.

The corporation should be accountable, according to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, by giving thorough and open answers to all countries, not only Malaysia, in order to allay public fears.

“We request representatives of AstraZeneca to provide a more detailed explanation, and I want to be transparent to the people and the media. They must be responsible; there is nothing we want to hide, and the same goes for them,” he said when met by reporters at a health screening program in Kampung Orang Asli Tun Abdul Razak here today.

AstraZeneca acknowledged that the COVID-19 vaccine might have an unusual adverse effect in court documents, according to earlier reports. The pharmaceutical corporation is facing accusations that the vaccine it developed in partnership with the University of Oxford caused hundreds of deaths and serious disabilities. Dzulkefly stated that the MOH has clinical recommendations for treating people who had adverse reactions to vaccines and would keep an eye on the situation.

In the meantime, he announced that this month, an emergency medical specialist will join an internal medicine doctor who had been assigned there permanently since January at the Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital (KKB). He said that the project will eliminate the need for locals to drive more than 45 kilometers to Selayang Hospital in order to receive medical care.

“I will continue to improve the KKB hospital, and I want to clarify that this is not done because of the by-election (Kuala Kubu Baharu State Legislative Assembly By-Election) but it has been planned,” he said.
