Government Provides Various Initiatives to Advance TVET – Ahmad Zahid
KUALA LUMPUR: The government has introduced several initiatives to advance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in the country, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He, who is also the Chairman of the National TVET Council, stated that this includes the involvement of 12 ministries in the TVET Council, which clearly shows the country’s strong commitment to advancing this field.
He mentioned that a new TVET application system, UP_TVET, has been introduced to facilitate students’ enrollment in TVET learning centers. Additionally, international cooperation in providing TVET education and training has been expanded.
“I am very confident that TVET institutions can produce skilled workers who will undoubtedly be in demand in the industry due to their high employability. This is proof that TVET is the right choice for those who want to achieve success in their careers,” he said in a post on X today.
Ahmad Zahid emphasized that TVET is key to a bright future, and thus, he often highlights the importance of young generations equipping themselves with new skills to compete globally.
He added that TVET not only provides technical knowledge but also develops the attitudes and practical skills needed in the industry.
“With a skilled and knowledgeable workforce, we can increase productivity and bring innovation to all economic sectors,” he said.
In conjunction with the 2024 National TVET Day celebration today, Ahmad Zahid hopes it will inspire the younger generation to be more courageous in pursuing technical and vocational education.
He said that with the right skills and training, the country will be able to produce a quality workforce capable of competing on a global scale.
He further invited the public to the National TVET Day 2024 celebration, which will be held at the Industrial Training Institute Kuala Langat, Banting, Selangor, on June 7 and 8.
