KUALA LUMPUR: The handling of the investigation related to the activities of Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB) Holdings Sdn Bhd will be carried out transparently, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed.
In a statement on Friday, he said, the Government itself gave assurances on the matter, including the welfare of the victims rescued in the Global Op carried out by the authorities.
“This includes ensuring that 542 children under the age of 18 are placed in Temporary Shelter and given access to welfare, counselling, spirituality and education for a period until the investigation by the PDRM, the Department of Islamic Religion and the State Council of Religion and the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) is completed. ),” he said again.
In the meantime, the Prime Minister said, he requested members and supporters inside and outside the country who are not under investigation to contact the authorities.
Their willingness to cooperate, he added, is believed to be able to help the authorities to deal with the problems faced by the concerned group.
On Sept 11, the police began conducting a Global Op which saw raids on 20 charity houses in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan linked to the GISB.
The company is alleged to be involved in child exploitation activities and the alleged doctrine of bigotry.
The fourth phase of Op Global which was carried out throughout Peninsular Malaysia which started on September 21 also found some leaflets that contained elements that contradicted the teachings of Islam and superstitions.
