GISB case: 156 more arrested, 187 minor victims rescued – KPN

KUALA LUMPUR: The fourth phase of Op Global against Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB) Holdings, which started on September 21, saw a total of 156 more individuals arrested and 187 more victims successfully rescued.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, in a special press conference in the capital on Monday, said that all the suspects arrested under phase four will be remanded until next September 28 to assist in the investigation.

He said raids under the said phase had been carried out in 280 premises closely linked to GISB in Peninsular Malaysia, with 221 of them having been vacated earlier, and the police believed the members in the premises had fled earlier.

“Currently the Social Welfare Department has opened 11 safe houses for rescued victims; at the beginning I told four; now JKM is opening 11 safe houses for these rescued victims.

“In general, we have confiscated 455 copies of leaflets and logos, 90 mobile phones, 16 computers, 25 animals, and 13 vehicles, and then there is a total of RM904 in cash,” he said.

In the meantime, Razarudin said the freezing action under Section 44(1) AMLATFPUAA 2001 (Act 613) and seizure under Section 45(2) AMLATFPUAA 2001 (Act 613) were carried out by the Money Laundering Crime Investigation Team (AMLA). , Secretary of the Inspector General’s Office, Bukit Aman.

“The latest total freeze under Section 44(1) AMLATFPUAA 2001 (Act 613) is 153 accounts with a breakdown consisting of 138 accounts with a total of RM882,795.94, and 15 accounts have been closed.

“While a total of 22 motorcycles of various types worth an estimated RM1,872,085.00 and 14 real estate lots have been frozen,” he said.

He said that the police did not rule out the possibility of conducting an investigation under the Security Offenses (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA), in addition to the investigation under the previously notified act.
